Chasing sunsets
There’s something about Sri Lankan sunsets. The way the sky toys with color, the way the ocean joins in. They’re the kind of moments that make people come back, season after season.
Here are a few of our favorite spots to watch the island show off.
Lighthouse Ahangama
It’s technically a hotel, but the real gem is a few floors up. Head to the rooftop terrace, grab a spot early, and you’ll score front-row seats to the south coast’s greatest hits: surfers, waves, and one of those sunsets that make you forget to check your phone.

Waterfront Bars – Ahangama
Ceylon Sliders, Crust, Uncles… three names, one promise: sunset views with a side of cold drinks. Each spot leans a little different — Sliders is stylish, Crust serves pizza with the horizon, and Uncles feels like that friend’s place you never want to leave. Whichever you pick, you’re basically signing up for golden-hour perfection. Check Instagram for live music and DJs on different nights.
